I Cannot Wait For Either Of The WW1 Movies That Are Coming Out
I say it all the time on LCB, there is far too many WW2 movies and not nearly enough good WW1 movies. I know it’s easier doing the former because the Axis was clearly/obviously evil and WW1 is a little more of a grey area, but still! It’s a massive fucking global conflict! Give it some more exposure in cinema! Well, my prayers were answered with ‘1917’ and ‘The King’s Man’. Let’s talk about the former. Sam Mendes is a great director (Jarhead is one of the best war movies ever made, in my opinion), and he has the best cinematographer in the game, Roger Deakins, as well. The cast has some British all-stars including these fellas:
By the way, if you’re a history guy like me, make sure to check out ‘They Shall Not Grow Old’, the WW1 documentary that Peter Jackson made. It’s on HBO Go for anyone interested.
